Service questions

Common questions

Is drywall work different in an attached and detached garage?

It can be. The spaces beside or above the garage, accepted assembly, exposure, moisture history, openings, services and permit or inspection direction are project-specific. The Surface Map records those relationships before the estimate treats the walls as one package.

Can you install or repair drywall on a garage ceiling?

A ceiling can be reviewed for localized repair, broad replacement or new board when its condition, framing or support, space above, height, doors, opener hardware, fixtures, services, access and accepted assembly are understood.

Does Type X drywall make a garage fire-rated?

One board product does not establish the complete fire-resistance assembly. Current project requirements govern framing, layers, fasteners, joints, penetrations, transitions and other components. The responsible design and authority parties determine what applies.
