Can a sagging drywall ceiling simply be patched?

Can you patch a textured ceiling?
A localized texture repair can be reviewed, but pattern, coating history and critical light affect the blend. Texture matching is not promised to be invisible; whole-room smoothing or removal belongs on the popcorn-ceiling page.
